Coping with Tragic Events

Shootings, particularly at schools, have become all too frequent as yet another community has been affected by violence.  Ten people were killed and another seven injured after a 26-year-old gunman opened fire in a classroom at a community college in southern Oregon.

Santa Monica is no stranger to this type of violence having experienced a similar incident in 2013.

For those living with traumatic grief, tragic events may elicit a re-experiencing of personal tragedies.  It is common for individuals, both children and adults, to experience overwhelming feelings a a part of living with trauma.
