Understanding What Drives Costs in Early Childhood Education: what policy research can tell us, but also what individual early childhood education providers are experiencing every day.

Keynote Speaker: Dr. Lea Austin, Center for the Study of Child Care Employment, University of California, Berkeley.

Patti Oblath of Connections For Children will summarize the financial aid programs that are available, who qualifies, and how parents can apply for them.

Terry Deloria, Assistant Superintendent, Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District, will brief us on the pilot program currently in preparation for Fall 2016 to create neighborhood preschools.  She will talk about how each pilot preschool will operate, who is eligible, and how much the service will cost.

Santa Monica College Dean Katharine Muller, project manager for the early childhood education center and lab school at the Civic Center, and Brian Ten, project architect, will update us on the design and schedule for the new facility.
